Training & Development
Welbro first achieved the Investors in People standard in March 2004 and maintained this status ever since. The Welbro management team learned from the process of Investors in People and have set out clear objectives for the business and are undertaking ongoing training to ensure that all members of the Welbro team understand their role and are properly trained to fulfil it.
Specialist Help
Welbro employs a specialist training consultant to work with our “in-house” training coordinator to advise and assess the training needs of the team and ensure that the best possible and most appropriate training is provided. They also assist with the assessment of the training and what impact it has had on the individual.
HCTA – Hampshire Construction Training Association
Welbro is a member of the HCTA, a group that provides support and seeks CITB funding for training construction companies within Hampshire. The group also provides an excellent forum at which its members can discuss training issues and receive presentations from representatives of Government departments and industry bodies.
The Welbro team is undoubtedly the biggest asset the company has and so proper investment in their training is essential. Sufficient provision of both time and finances are set aside to ensure all team members are fully prepared and able to carry out their work.
All team members are taught that training is not something that is just learned in a classroom. Any form of learning, gaining skills or knowledge, wherever it may occur is good training. This can be in the office, on-site, during a toolbox talk or by more orthodox methods like classroom teaching, training courses or e-learning. The most important thing is that Welbro staff are properly prepared to carry out their allotted tasks and duties.
In order to ensure that the training is having the desired effect, regular staff appraisals and job chats are carried out by management to track, clarify and develop personal development plans for all team members. The feedback has been good, as the team members appreciate the investment Welbro makes in them, which gives them a sense of worth and inclusion.
